The Process

Be assured that much care and craftsmanship go into every piece you purchase. Following is an overview of how your custom stained-glass art was created.

After designing and drawing the image in Procreate, I print the pattern and trace it onto the glass. This is followed by carefully scoring and cutting each piece. Using a glass grinder, I work on all the pieces to ensure that each shape is perfect.

Solder won't adhere to the glass itself, so every edge must be precisely covered with copper foil and then burnished. I use a 60/40 solder blend (60% tin, 40% lead). Following the soldering, I thoroughly clean the piece.

Now is the option for coloring the solder with a patina—either copper or black (really more of a dark gunmetal). Coloring the solder with a patina really makes the glass stand out.

Lastly, I wax and polish the completed piece to a beautiful shine!
